Spring 2024 Bridge Building Contest

The Engineering Student Guild is excited to announce the ruleset for the 2024 Design Showcase. This semester we have decided to hold a competition in which contestants will design, simulate, and construct model bridges.

Each group will use balsa wood sticks to create a functional model that is capable of standing on the test supports (shown in document drawing). The models will then be judged predominantly on strength-to-weight ratio, with aesthetics, construction quality, and adherance to the ruleset.

Please take the time to fill out this survey about your prefered team, or if you would like to work alone. Provided tools and materials will be limited–, this includes clippers, knives, glue, and wood. Make sure to consider limited resources, and the strength to weight aspect of the contest.
