UNG Libraries presents the Spring Student Speakers Series featuring presentations about water. Join us as students present the results of two FUSE grants related to testing local well water and removing pollutants from water using zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs). The first presenter will discuss her work using Total Reflection X-Ray Fluorescence (TXRF) to test well water in Lumpkin County for bacteria, heavy metal concentrations, and provide homeowners with reports with EPA primary and secondary standards at no cost. Our second presenters will discuss their research on using ZIFs to filter out carbaryl, manganese, and haloacetic acids from drinking water with the goal of developing reusable, tailorable, and efficient water treatment methods.
