Details

Join the Office of Student Involvement and help to pack thousands of meals for our neighbors in need. It is our goal to bring student, faculty/staff, and commu8nity members together to package 100,000 meals to feed our UNG communities.


Wednesday, September 4th, 2024, 2pm-6:30pm
Various Volunteer Shifts available, 2:00pm-3:00pm, 3:45pm-4:45pm, 5:30pm-6:30pm

Dress Code:
To ensure a safe and comfortable packing experience, we kindly request that all participants adhere to the following dress code:
Closed-toe shoes: For safety reasons, please wear closed-toe shoes such as sneakers or sturdy shoes that provide adequate protection for your feet.
Casual and comfortable clothing: As you will be engaging in physical activity, we recommend wearing casual and comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement.
Hair tied back: If you have long hair, we request that you tie it back to prevent it from coming into contact with the food packaging.
All participants will be given hairnets, gloves, and other food safety items to insure that they are properly handling the food items at each packing station.


During the event:
During the actual event, volunteers will have the opportunity to perform the following tasks.

Sustainer - Ensuring that each Funnel team has adequate ingredients and bags throughout the event.

Funneler - Working with a team of 3-4 people, put the ingredients into the meal bags.

Weigher Weighing the bags to ensure they’re in the allowable range and making adjustments as necessary.

Sealer - Heat sealing the bags after they are weighed.

Boxer - Filling the boxes with sealed bags. You’re on your feet for this job and need to have a passion for details.

Taper - Building boxes, taping boxes, and putting the boxes on pallets.

Cleaner - Breaking down empty boxes, disposing of empty ingredient bags, and cleaning up any spills during the event.
Dress Casual (jeans ok)
Food Provided (Water and Snacks for Volunteers)
